The Employer Development Specialist helps clients with barriers in locating sustainable employment opportunities while working directly with employers to promote NLC services, determine employer needs, and propose solutions through job matching and placement of clients.

Education and Experience:

• Completed post-secondary education from a recognized Canadian Institute or its equivalent, or three years related experience in Human Services Field or other related field
• Job Development, Employer Outreach, and /or recruitment experience
• Experience in marketing, sales, and promotions
• Staffing Firm or Human Resources experience
•  Experience working with new immigrants and those identifying disabilities or other barriers to employment 

Required Skills and Knowledge: 

• Creating and delivering presentations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective coaching skills
• Intermediate user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)
• Knowledge of the local and provincial labour markets
• Marketing and/or sales techniques
• Strong knowledge of careers and occupations, various job requirements, job search skills
• Knowledge of community and government resources available to clients & employers
• General knowledge of Employment & Human Resources Legislation and practices considered an asset
•  Basic understanding of computer networks, hardware & office equipment
•  French language is an asset
