Organization Description
|
Ontario March of Dimes (OMOD) draws on more than 55 years of experience to serve people with physical disabilities of all ages and created March of Dimes Canada (MODC) in 2001 to share its knowledge and expertise across the country. We are the largest community-based rehabilitation and advocacy organization for people with physical disabilities in the province. The organization operates programs and services through over 70 sites in Ontario, has control over three subsidiary non-profits, delivers government funded and donor funded services to over 40,000 consumers annually across the province and across Canada.

Duties / Responsibilities
|
- Provide case management services that include the direct delivery of and/or the coordination of pre-service/intake assessment, service planning, vocational counseling, monitoring, job/site analysis, and job placement/development.
- Work with the consumer, incorporating consumer input and preferences in balance with referral source requirements.
- Coordinate initial assessment and assist the consumer to explore vocational options so that the consumer can select several viable vocational goals.
- Develop an Employment Plan that details the services the consumer needs to overcome any employment barriers and to achieve the recommended vocational goals.
- Coordinate internal OMOD services, especially job development and employment coaching to ensure the consumer receives needed services.
- Make referrals and to external agencies and monitors to ensure timely service of excellent quality.
- Monitor consumer progress, develop solutions when the consumer experiences problems or is at risk of failure.

Requirements / Qualifications
|
- Bachelor of Arts in a related discipline
- Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) Eligible
- Two years experience in the delivery of job placement and vocational rehabilitation is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Effective negotiation skills
- Sensitivity to issues/barriers that people with disabilities experience
- Ability to communicate in both official languages considered an asset
- Thorough knowledge of local labour markets
