Organization The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE)
Organization Description
The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) is the voice of the engineering profession in Ontario. Located in North York, OSPE is a not-for-profit professional association, providing membership services and advocacy in support of the economic and professional interests of engineers in Ontario. OSPE has an opening for a part time contract position as Project Manager to work with OSPE staff and strategic partners in the development and delivery of an educational program, “Bridging Internationally Trained Engineers to Job Readiness in the Green Economy”. The program involves coordinating workshops and courses for immigrant engineers, from all types of disciplines, to become more job ready in the green/environmental economy. The position reports to the Executive Director, Centre of Engineering Excellence at OSPE. The Project Manager will require flexibility in terms of days/hours required during the 3 year duration of the Project. It is anticipated that up to 10 days per month (based on 7.5 hour workdays) will be required.
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Oversight of all aspects of preparing draft reports and communication for the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, including timely preparation of all status and other reports;
  • Coordinating, planning, and presenting for meetings of the Program Advisory Committee, including minute taking;
  • Liaising and coordinating with project partners and stakeholders;
  • Managing all strategic and operational planning and implementation for the entire program, including logistics and resource allocation;
  • Arranging for program delivery venues such as classrooms and ensuring all necessary materials and resources for course delivery are prepared and distributed;
  • Managing the project budget and keeping accounting spreadsheets up-to-date for the OSPE Manager; Financial Services
  • Developing and managing information, consent forms, and evaluation surveys of participants; collating and analyzing the results of the evaluations;
  • Developing a participant tracking process to monitor and report on employment and licensure outcomes at pre-set intervals after participants have completed the program;
  • Attending classes as appropriate to present the project, its goals, discuss consent forms, answering questions about consent and privacy issues;
  • Developing a marketing strategy with OSPE staff and providing input for flyers and other communications materials to market the program;
Requirements / Qualifications
  • At least five years relevant experience in project management of government programs, preferably within education and/or immigrant services
  • University degree
  • Solid experience writing reports, evaluations, summaries, and marketing messages
  • Demonstrated ability to represent an organization such as OSPE, and working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Goal-oriented, with proven experience working in highly collaborative teams in an outcomes-focused, deadline-driven, customer-service environment
  • Excellent, clear and concise oral presentation and writing skills
  • High degree of initiative, versatility and flexibility, political acumen and tact
  • Excellent organizational and computer literacy skills; demonstrated ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, and meet rigorous deadlines
  • Assets include experience working with volunteers, knowledge of the engineering profession, and previous experience managing projects in a not-for-profit and/or association setting
