Organization Cambridge Career Counselling
Organization Description
Cambridge Career Counselling provides individual career counselling services to people who are seeking employment.  We are contracted by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to assist individuals to identify, clarify and resolve barriers preventing them from returning to work.  We provide career decision making, goal setting and planning. This servce is accessible on a referral basis.
Duties / Responsibilities

 

  • Interview clients to obtain case histories, assess skills, identify barriers and prepare intake documentation
  • Assist clients to sort though options, determine eligibility and develop an initial plan of action to: 1) make a career decision and/or validate existing career goals 2) set realistic and achievable goals 3) maintain employment (job maintenance) once work is obtained.
  • Adapt and implement Career Planning Process
  • When appropriate, assist the client to investigate training options
  • Prepare and submit recommendations for Second Career and Skill Development funding as appropriate.
  • Counsel clients as they move through the Career Development and /or Skill Enhancement stages of the intervention
  • Prepare assessments, progress and followup reports
  • Prepare and case manage individual client files
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Completion of a related degree or diploma.
  • Three to five years of related counselling and case management experience.
  • Experience working with Employment Assistance Services programs, particularly Ontario Skills Development.
  • Excellent communication skills.  Oral and written fluency in English is required.
  • Experience maintaining case files, thorough documentation and report writing.
  • Sensitivity and ability to deal effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective Internet research skills.  Extensive knowledge of labour market trends and occupational information resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage a large workload and work well under pressure.
  • Experience developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with key supports and resources in the community.

 

Schedule Monday to Friday 8:30 - 4:30
