Organization Description
SUMMARY: The LINC Home Study National Delivery is a distance education English language training program that has been implemented in Alberta, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The program will be further expanded into Saskatchewan, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland during 2009-2011. Teachers will facilitate regular instructional activities for all students (online and correspondence) in the LINC Home Study National Delivery program.

POSITION TITLE:Instructor – Distance Education, LINC home Study National Delivery
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Casual
LOCATION:At Home
REPORTING TO:Project Manager, LINC Home Study National Delivery
START DATE:November 1, 2009
END DATE:March 31, 2010
SALARY RANGE:$20.00 to $25.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
HOURS:Varies
BENEFITS:  No
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Develop a learning plan for each new student within 2 weeks of first contact
  • Complete quarterly progress reports for each learner as per guidelines
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and other professional development activities
  • Provide weekly oral instruction for students
  • Assign homework and provide feedback on student work regularly
  • Create student portfolios and provide samples of student work at any time as requested by the coordinator
  • Be willing to take a minimum of 12 students
  • Be comfortable teaching either higher or lower level students through technology-assisted learning
  • Other duties related to program development as assigned
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent
  • TESL Certification from an accredited institution
  • TESL Ontario certificate (current)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a LINC/ESL class and a thorough understanding of the Canadian Language Benchmarks and the National Placement grid.
