JobStart is a non profit agency serving the community since 1980.  We provide a range of employment and training services to job seekers (adults, persons with disabilities, newcomers, youth and students) and employers at 3 locations in Toronto.  JobStart’s committed staff fosters an environment where all are supported in reaching their employment potential. 

 

Duties / Responsibilities
Purpose of the Job:  Market and promote JobStart’s range of services and diverse client base while creating awareness of the benefits of hiring our clients.  Responsible to establish and manage relationships with employers and business associations to facilitate the process of connecting  clients with employers in the process of recruiting, job matching and securing unpaid, paid placements, (apprenticeship, mentoring and summer jobs) that meets the clients’ employment goal and provides support to maximize job retention.   Key Responsibilities: 
  • Prospect for new employers and maintain good relationships with current employers to meet the employment needs of our clients and contract requirements  Develop relationships with community agencies and referral sources for client referrals
  • Documenting client/employer files, case management, conduct appropriate and regular follow-up activities with program participants, and maintain client activity service statistical and financial information for monthly reports
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with community partners; monitor labour market trends and services available in the community; deliver group workshops; Meet or exceed all other required contractual, client and/or agency requirementsAssist with administration, marketing, other duties as required to support contract and agency strategic planPlans, develops and delivers workshops for employers and clients on employment, training, recruiting, occupational health and safety, workplace accommodation etc based on current and future needs
  • Ensures compliance to Contract and obtain appropriate authorization from Manager and documentation validation for all client and employers subsidies and supports 
  • Develops, and maintains employer lists and databases in order to effectively job match clients with employers, track clients progress in achieving employment goals

 

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Diploma in Career Counselling, or University Diploma, post secondary education in human services field,
  • Minimum two years work experience in career counseling with individuals experiencing complex barriers to employment, assessments, job search, workshop facilitation (adults, persons with disabilities, newcomers, youth)
  • Advanced skills utilizing all Microsoft Application including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, presentation skills and sales skills
  • Desire to work in a multicultural setting and posses sound decision making and judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Well organized, team player  who is able to take initiative, manage change/transitions with the ability to prioritize and multi-taskValid driver's licence and unlimited access to a vehicle an asset

 

Schedule 35 hours per week (evening hours are required and weekend hours maybe required)
