Organization Description
JBJ Employment Services is an Employment Assistance Services (EAS) provider, covering the County of Dufferin and surrounding area with experience in job search, career decision-making, employment counselling and facilitation.  JBJ has built a strong reputation by providing innovative employment services programs, excellent client service delivery and strong community partnerships.   We are currently seeking a team-oriented individual with strong employment counselling and communication skills as an Employment Counsellor / Facilitator.
Duties / Responsibilities
The Employment Counsellor position works with and provides unemployment assessment, job readiness assessment, job seeking and maintenance assistance, skills development information and access to resources within the centre, for outside agency referred clients.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:§          Establishing a collaborative counselling relationship by interviewing clients to obtain employment history, educational background and career goals§          Assess client strengths and identify potential employment barriers; develop strategies for re-employment§          Identify marketable and transferable skills; determine realistic employment goal§          All documentation to be completed and prepared accurately: case notes, in-house software program§          Ongoing support to assist client in attaining goals as set in Return to Work Action Plans§          Administer and interpret tests designed to determine the interest, aptitudes and abilities of clients§          Collect labour market information for clients regarding job openings and entry and skill requirements§          Counsel clients on work and career-related issues§          Provide information on community resources §          Assist in facilitating group workshops§          Prepare weekly reports for submission to funding and referring agencies§          Provide encouragement and support§          Participate in formal and informal case conferences and team meetings

Facilitation

§          Assist clients with job search activities; resume preparation, cover letters, interviewing skills, LMI, networking cold calling etc.§          Assist in maintaining up-to-date training information and job search resources§          Maintain contact with external agencies, employers, and clients utilizing their resources as required §          All documentation to be completed and prepared accurately: case notes, in-house software program for statistical reporting§          Provide encouragement and support§          Participate in formal and informal case conferences and team meetings§          Follow up with clients

Requirements / Qualifications
§          Training on Common Assessment and the Assessment Component of Employment Counselling and other recognized and accepted employment counselling processes§          Sound knowledge of career decision making tools, job search strategies, the current labour market and future employment trends§          Excellent group facilitation and communication skills§          Experience in assessment and counselling§          Follow up with clientsGeneral requirements:§          Must have valid driver’s license and routine access to a reliable motor vehicle for outreach program§          Ability to work flexible hoursAssist in administrative duties to include front desk/reception and answering of telephone
